The Image of Traditional China in the the Novel of V. M. Doroshevich «Mu-Xiang»

The article analyzes the image of China in the novel of V. M. Doroshevich «MuXiang» (1903), manners, customs and life of traditional Chinese society. The author shows the clash of two different civilizations, two models of behavior, traditional Chinese and western. The writer shows the impossibility of penetrating European culture in the life of old China, using the technique of modeling of some Chinese customs did not exist in reality, on the basis of common understanding of Chinese culture in Russia, early XX century.
