The present research paper analyzes the features of contemporary oral existence of Kazakh etiological legends associated with natural objects of landscape and legends, performed in the Russian-speaking milieu. The analysis involves oral narratives recorded among tourists and tour guides of Bayanaul the environment conservation area in Kazakhstan. The narratives, explaining the origin and characteristics of mountains, rocks and lakes were created by vernacular population of the region in past, as it is demonstrated by Kazakh-archival records. Representatives of other ethnic groups, when getting acquainted with the space new to them, learn and adopt heard legend in accordance with own folklore experience. The result is in creating and spreading of the Russian language versions of the Kazakh stories.
