The pear tree in serbian traditional culture and oral prose

The paper explores the meanings and function of the pear tree in Serbian ethnological material and oral prose. The pear tree can be a holy tree, but also a tree which is demonic. Such a position derives from the well known and internationally widespread ancient religious systems in which the cult of the trees has a strong significanse.
